We are still watching a tropical wave between the Yucatan and Cuba. Most of the computer models have been consistent over the last few days on developing a tropical system in the Gulf later this week. I think we will have an area of low pressure over the Gulf tomorrow and Friday, but determining the path and strength is going to be quite difficult. There is a chance that this system may turn into a tropical depression or a tropical storm. The chances of it becoming a hurricane are slim. There is some wind shear aloft over the northern Gulf and some drier air aloft as well, so the conditions are not real favorable for fast development. If anything, tropical moisture will be moving north, so the rain chances will increase over the coming days, and we will see a chance of rain through the weekend. The best chance of rain will be south of I-10. Even though we don’t think this system will be a big concern, still be prepared just in case.
