Good rainfall in January and February has eased drought concerns across much of Acadiana. The latest US Drought Monitor, released Thursday morning, shows only the southeastern part of the state still in Extreme Drought. Most areas around us are not even registering on the Monitor. Rainfall so far this year at Lafayette is 11.48″ thru Thursday, or 2.07″ above normal. The downside is the ground is saturated, so anyone looking to do some work outdoors may be in a holding pattern!
