As of Jan. 3rd across Acadiana we are seeing drought intensities from Moderate all the way to Exceptional! 2011 was one of the driest years on record and as of today for 2012 we are 1.35″ below normal for the month of January. There is some good news however, over the next two days we could get some moderate rainfall up to 2″ in some areas across Acadiana. This certainly will not quench the drought but it is a good start and will at least put 2012 back in the normal range.
