A potent storm system will move through Acadiana Thursday, and we may see some severe weather as it passes through Acadiana. This system will have strong wind shear, but the instability won’t be very impressive. With the strong wind shear, damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible. Most of the upper level energy with this system will stay north of Acadiana, so that will push the greater risk of severe weather north of our area. The best chance of severe weather will be Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. As of now, the risk of severe weather is a Slight Risk, but I think this will be upgraded to a Moderate risk tomorrow or Thursday. This could be a widespread severe weather event for parts of the Deep South. We will watch it closely;stay weather aware Thursday.
