This is Invest AL94 located west of the Cape Verde Islands heading westwards at 20-25mph. I’m a little surprised by the way visible satellite looked this afternoon that this is not at least Tropical Depression 9. Most models have this wave developing into a tropical storm in the coming days. As long as no other surprise systems develop before this one, Invest AL94 will become Isaac.
Take this image with a grain of salt as it is still far too early to know the exact path or impacts if any Invest AL94 will have on the U.S. This is from our 12 z GFS model that takes Invest AL94 into the Gulf of Mexico as a tropical system just south of Louisiana on Thursday August 30th. I stress our next model run will more than likely show a completely different scenario but this wave will have a lot of attention focused on it in the coming days.
