A Wet July…

An early-evening thunderstorm unleashed on the north side of Lafayette Tuesday, dumping up to a few inches of rain in spots.  The rain soaked Lafayette Regional Airport, the official weather observation site for the city.  As a result, the record streak of consecutive days with measurable rainfall was extended to 19.  At Lafayette, the rainfall this month has been about twice what is normal.

The streak is bound to end soon.  A much drier and hotter pattern is starting to unfold across Acadiana.
