We are into the first half hurricane season, and I had a chance today to talk about hurricane preparedness to a large group of folks at the Opelousas Civic Center. Regardless of what kind’ve season is predicted, we should always be prepared, and that was one of the points I tried to get across to the crowd. We started off the season with four tropical storms, but we haven’t seen any tropical activity sinceĀ Tropical Storm Debby, which was almost a month ago. Even though it’s predicted to be a slower than average hurricane season, it doesn’t mean we won’t see a troipcal system across Acadiana. We hope it does stay quiet for the remainder of hurricane season. As of now, no tropical development is expected for the next week.
