With some strong storms across Acadiana yestrday, we saw some healthy rainfall totals across some parts of the area. Most of the rain fell south of I-10. Some areas received over three inches of rain. Most areas that received rain averaged around an inch and a half of rain. A lot of water can fall from these storms in a short period of time, causing flash flooding, and the lightning is very frequent with the storms this time of year, so be careful when out and about are under a storm. This time last year we had temperatures topping out in the lower 100s, and we were in a terrible drought, so the afternoon storms are helping to keep the drought away, and it’s keeping temperatures a little cooler. I’ll take it! Rain chances will be very low today and tomorrow, but they will increase this weekend as deeper moisture returns to Acadiana.
