The Second Named Storm for the 2012 Season is Official

Subtropical Storm Beryl became official this weekend marking a second named storm before the official start of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season on June 1st. With a widely exposed center and elongated nature it is more subtropical and has been classified as so. It looks to impact the east coast of GA, FL and SC by late Sunday into the day on Monday with wind speeds expected to stay below hurricane status. Since the start of hurricane record keeping back in 1851 this is the 3rd time that 2 storms formed before June 1st! The last time this happened was 1908!
